Magic theater - only for crazy people

Inner traveling stage

"Magical Theater - only for crazy people" takes up the motif of the Magic Theater from Hermann Hesse's "The Steppenwolf" as a conceptual basis and translates it into a spatial interior concept.

The Magic Theater is not a real place, but a symbolic space of experience. An inner stage on which the multiplicity of the self is revealed. Contradictory parts of the personality exist simultaneously: aspiration and drive, seriousness and play, darkness and lightness, doubt and longing. Theater enables insight through experience and reflection.
At the same time, it stands for a quiet rebellion against standardized identity. The "Steppenwolf" suffers from narrow bourgeois morals and social expectations. The Magic Theater opens up a space beyond these attributions.

The exhibition space is conceived as such a space of the soul - as a psychological and social field of tension. Different states exist simultaneously. Individual dark sides stand alongside collective ones. Questions of adaptation, conformity and inner freedom permeate the space. There is no center, no linear dramaturgy, no clear interpretation. The space destabilizes certainties.

The spelling " ver-rückt" is essential. It means shifted from the center. Not as a pathological term, but as a conscious movement away from normative definitions.
In an existential perspective - life as a game of possibilities - the magical theater opens up a space of decision. Identity is not fixed, but can be shaped.
At the same time, the space also reflects the dark sides of social developments - such as the pressure to conform, tendencies towards self-optimization or current dynamics of algorithmic control.

The soul space thus becomes not only a place for individual self-reflection, but also a resonance space for collective questions. Individual shadows and social shadows appear side by side.

At the end of Hesse's Magical Theater, humour plays a central role. Insight does not end in tragedy, but in the ability for ironic self-distance. Humor relativizes and opens up a hopeful perspective.

"Magisches Theater- nur für Ver-rückte" understands the exhibition space as a symbolic place of displacement - between the individual and society, adaptation and freedom, shadow and awareness. As a traveling stage, it is not bound to a specific location, but changes with each exhibition space and adapts to the respective conditions.
A space that does not resolve contradictions, but makes them visible - and opens up the possibility of change.
